I have served all my life. After college, I served my community as a teacher. When war broke out, I left my draft-exempt teaching job and volunteered to serve two tours in Vietnam as a Marine. I spent six months in a veteran’s hospital and after my tour of duty in the Marine Corps, the GI Bill helped me to graduate from Emory University School of Law in 1973.
